Andhra Pradesh government signs four MoUs with Sumitomo Corporation

The state government has identified Vijayawada–Guntur region to develop a new capital city.

The MoUs were signed during a visit of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to the Sumitomo Corporation on the fourth day of his tour to Japan, according to a statement issued by his office.

The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister welcomed Sumitomo to Andhra Pradesh and said the state could be the gateway to South East Asia if the corporation chose to do business with them.

According to the MoU on developing a capital city, Sumitomo would assist the AP state government for develop the new capital as a world class smart city and also try to secure funds for the endeavour.

"In response to Government of Andhra Pradesh's above mentioned intention and desire, Sumitomo sent its survey team. Sumitomo shall assist in developing the new capital of Andhra Pradesh as a world class smart city," an AP state government statement said.

"Sumitomo shall try and assist to find as well as secure necessary funds for such development from the Japanese government funding by JICA, NEDO and JBIC as much as practically applicable. In addition, Sumitomo shall introduce the latest technology in various sectors," it added.

As per the MoU on energy, the AP state government plans to collaborate with Sumitomo to develop a 4x1000 MW coal fired power station at Srikakulam.

Jivi launches entry-level Android smartphone for Rs 1,999 in India

The dual SIM-JSP20, which will sold exclusively through ecommerce firm Amazon.in, features 3.5-inch screen, 1 GHz processor and Android Gingerbread OS.
  
It also sports 128MB RAM, 256MB memory (expandable up to 32GB), 2MP camera and 1350 mAh battery.
  
The company aims to sell about 2 lakh units of the device, claims this is the cheapest Android-based smartphone available in the country.
  
"The intent was clear. We want to make available a good quality smartphone at an extremely affordable price, we are doing this on very thin margins," Jivi Mobiles CEO Pankaj Anand said at an event.
  
Earlier this week, another homegrown firm Intex had launched an Android KitKat powered smartphone for Rs 2,699 with Flipkart, which it claimed was the cheapest in the country.

HTC unveils Desire 820 with 64-bit Snapdragon 615 Soc processor

The smartphone will be available worldwide beginning late-September.

The smartphone packs a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SoC (1.5GHz quad-core + 1.0GHz quad-core) coupled with 2GB of RAM.

The dual-SIM (Nano-SIM) HTC Desire 820 runs Android 4.4 KitKat with HTC Sense UI skinned on top. The smartphone is the successor to HTC Desire 816.  It features a 5.5-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) display.

The 16GB internal storage on the Desire 820 is expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB). Connectivity options on the handset include Wi-Fi, FM radio, Bluetooth, GPRS/ EDGE, GPS/ A-GPS, 3G and 4G LTE connectivity.

The Desire 820 packs a 13-megapixel (with f/2.2 lens) rear facing camera with LED flash and BSI sensor, apart from an 8-megapixel secondary front-facing camera.

The handset measures 157.7x78.74x7.74mm and weighs 155 grams. The HTC Desire 820 packs a 2600mAh battery which is rated to deliver up to 22.4 hours (3G) of talk time and 424 hours (3G) of standby time.

HTC has said that with the Snapdragon 615 processor, the HTC Desire 820 will offer 'lightning-fast Cat 4 4G connectivity at speeds of up to 150Mbps.' It also supports HTC's Dot View case which will provide 'instant access to your phone without opening the cover.

Hackers breached data link used for billing, says Target representative

The data connection was used by the vendor, Fazio Mechanical Services, to bill Target and exchange contract and project management information with the retailer, according to Dick Roberts, a public relations representative for Fazio.

Target, the third-largest US retailer, has said the hackers stole about 40 million credit and debit card records, as well as personal information, such as addresses and phone numbers, belonging to about 70 million customers.

Target spokeswoman Molly Snyder declined on Thursday to comment on the company's vendor relationships or to provide an update.

"This is an active and ongoing investigation. I don't have additional details to share at this time," she said.

Last week, Target said the theft of a vendor's credentials had helped cyber criminals pull off the massive data breach, which occurred during the holiday shopping season in late 2013. Target did not identify the vendor.

US Secret Service, which is investigating the Target attack, earlier on Wednesday said that its agents had visited the offices of Fazio Mechanical Services, based in Sharpsburg, Pennsylvania.

Fazio does not believe the hackers breached any data or data connections involving any of its other customers, Roberts said.

Ross E Fazio, president and owner of Fazio Mechanical Services, said in a statement that his company was ‘fully cooperating’ with Target and the Secret Service ‘to identify the possible cause of the breach’.

Fazio provides Target with heating, ventilation and air conditioning services, which are maintained physically. Fazio did not monitor these systems by remote control, Roberts said.
